BREAD AND PUPPET THEATRE

After we had a great primary activity Saturday morning which focused on a food drive for the Mid Ohio food bank, THIS is what we did for fun on Saturday. You see, we live a "stone's throw" so to speak from a local liberal arts college called Otterbein University. One of our neighbors
is an English professor there. One of our other neighbors is a fund raiser for the school, and her husband is a former basketball coach for the school as well. The soccer fields are literally in our view when we are in our back yard. Needless to say- without becoming actual alumni or being actual FANS of this school, we have inadvertently become participant's in local school activities. For example, last year we wandered over to the stadium for a football game, which at a primarily liberal arts college, is more like a large high school game according to my husband. We enjoy that our little suburban town has the college feel to it. It keeps it fresh and fun.

So this Saturday, our neighbor who is a professional crafter of art quilts (that she sells and donates the profits to local needy people, like the northern Ohio farmer whose Barn burned down and he lost all his cows.) and her hubby the English Professor asked us if we were going to the "circus" on the school green, we thought- Sure! That'll at least be something different to do today on this sunny and bright day! And BOY was it something else!! I have tons of pics to prove we stuck it out through the WHOLE show. It was a somewhat entertaining political tirade to cheer the heart of every frustrated hippie-tree-hugger-unpasteurized-milk lovin'- liberal. (we are talking walmart hatin-,to FEMA, to the government, to the nuclear power issues, the war, to exorbitant consumer spending, to the love of completely illegal and glorious all natural unpasteurized cow's milk.) And I would venture to guess we may have been the only folks in the audience who did not share in all of their political issue soapboxes. (Don't get me wrong, I agree to some exent with many liberal issues...but definately far more on the conservative side) And luckily for us, we understand that is what this great country is ALL about. The freedom to choose what we believe. It did, however, solidify in my mind the sad and pessimistic attitude that many people with these fringe political thoughts have. I found it kinda depressing, albeit in a somewhat visually entertaining way.

Anyway, it was kind of an eye opener for us. We never realized how people who are really into these political persuasions treat it like a religion! They seemed so INTO what they were preaching. Kinda scary but also not a worry I assume because most of those fringe folks are also really afraid of the world overpopulating, so I figure within a few generations they'll just die out since they apparently don't believe in having children. Good Stuff.
